Gutter Fighting
The Original Special Forces Hand-to-Hand Combat
Win Every Fight!
Violent crime is on the rise. Could you keep yourself and your loved ones safe? Or would you become another statistic?
Most people just hope it won't happen to them, but this is a very poor strategy. Instead of just hoping, you could take simple steps to ensure your own safety and the safety of your loved ones. You just need to take action. We teach a comprehensive system of effective self-protection and all the street tactics that go along with it. This site is for people who take action.
Is it really possible to win every fight and violent assault? It is with the right skills. Gutter Fighting makes this possible.

Gutter Fighting
This was the name given to the hand-to-hand combat created by Colonel William Ewart Fairbairn during WW2. It had previously been known as Defendu, but the win at all costs nature lead to the name Gutter Fighting. Fairbairn is a bit of a legend and is known as the father of modern close quarters combat. Sometimes he was called the Gentleman Warrior. He was also called the man who could kill you 500 ways! His appearance earned him the nickname "the Deacon" as he looked like a vicar. In this case, looks can be deceptive!

Colonel Fairbairn's Story
Originally a Royal Marine, Fairbairn went on to spend 30 years working for the Shanghai Municipal Police, fighting drug gangs and Tongs. It was considered the most dangerous city in the world at that time and was almost entirely lawless. Fairbairn himself had over 600 fights, multiple stabbings and gunshot wounds and was scarred from head to toe. He studied numerous martial arts at that time and was even taught kung fu by the Empress of China's bodyguard. He created his unique fighting system to train his police colleagues. It had to be easy to learn and brutally effective in extreme life or death scenarios. In 1926 he wrote a book called Defendu. Fairbairn's fighting system is still known by both the Defendu and Gutter Fighting names. The Gutter Fighting name appeared during WW2 and seemed to reflect a change of mind-set, as well as streamlining the system.

Continuing Colonel Fairbairn's Story...
After returning to England in 1938, he went on to train the SOE (spies), commandos and special forces during wartime. He also trained several US and Canadian units. Gutter Fighting was the original special forces hand to hand combat system. His methods still form the basis of British and other special forces combat to this day. These methods really are the most effective in the real world. There are no uniforms, belts or traditions. Neither is it a sport...just pure, effective street orientated combat.

Colonel Fairbarn's Inventions
Fairbairn was also credited with inventing the bulletproof vest, the first riot police and the first S.W.A.T. team as well as the "killing house" training facilities used by special forces to this day. He and long-time colleague, Eric Sykes created a famous fighting knife. They also developed "point shooting" and it became highly favoured in CQB. Fairbairn was truly a Great British hero for his many wartime contributions, not least of which was Gutter Fighting.
My vision is to bring Gutter Fighting to the world.
Modern Evolution
Gutter Fighting used by the SAS and other elite special forces has been in a state of gradual evolution. The basics are the same though, which shows just how right Fairbairn got it from the start.
I teach more tactical approaches than the original, to suit its use in a modern environment. Every type of street-based scenario is covered in detail, preparing you for any eventuality. This is something which is fundamental to become truly effective on the street. Traditional or sport martial arts don't teach this, therefore limiting their usefulness in real world situations.
Would you know what to do if someone was watching you? What if someone approached you? Maybe you wake in the night and hear a burglar. What if you encounter a gang? Maybe you spill someone's drink. What if you are cornered? He could pull a knife. Or, someone follows you into the toilet...
Would you know what to do?
I will teach you how to deal with all these situations and many more!
Not only will you be able to fight like a special operative, you will think like one too.
When you are trained like this, your confidence level will be totally transformed. You will feel like a new person.

I only teach very small groups of up to 4 people as this is the best way to learn quickly. Remember, you can't learn this anywhere else.
